May I Paint You a Poem

May I paint you a poem

with words dipped in colours of sable tones

where gloomy clouds storm the skies

above ocean and sand, it lies.

It lies in speechless beauty of a familiar time.

It lies in the reminders that play in her mind.

It lies in that snapshot moment –

That fluttered breath,

That culminating point

Eyes and soul, abreast.

May I paint you a poem

With brush strokes in purple, greyish blue tones

Where moods swirl in colours across the canvas skies

Underneath pen and paint, she lied.

She lied beyond the half-written note that said goodbye.

She lied beyond the half open door to a sandy path outside.

She lied, the ocean tides.
